Riff Spreader One of my favorite podcasts, and season 3 had the best songs IMO. I could listen to Panthers on the Mountainside on repeat all day. Favorite track: Panthers on the Mountainside.

maddambeltaine While I love Panthers on the Mountainside, it is a beautiful and haunting track, the sly nod-wink humour of As Above, So Below just makes me chuckle Favorite track: As Above, So Below.

sjbecker99 This has become my go-to study playlist. Even though it's only two songs, there's something so soothing about 'There's panthers on the mountainside, I'll sharpen my teeth pray my nails become claws and 'The dark has powers that the green won't show, as above so below' when I'm trying to bull my way through questions about calculating first-in first-out inventory. There's more to life beyond the corporate world and I need the reminder. Favorite track: Panthers on the Mountainside.

We laid my mamaw to rest the ridge bowed it’s head and i tattooed her name on the top of my wrist 6 feet too low when her heart becomes cold we’ll sniff our her bones and see how bright she glows See i hear that time is a cold hammer’s blow and that days in this holler are caskets to close I watch the sun ink and pray it may rise and hold in the tales i keep buried in my mind of panthers on the mountainside the freedom that comes of knowing your bite I sharpen my teeth pray my nails become claws to finally dig out of this hole we’ve always called home. Paw says he’s been here too long blood wrapped in bones years in a hole hammering earth wrapped in stone rotten with his sin the days all cave in the USMC fades to gray on his skin Now back in his prime we said reckless and crude and here at the end we say stubborn as a mule he’ll watch the sun sink and pray its his last and hope that there was light in the tales that he passed of panthers on the mountainside the freedom that comes of knowing your bite I sharpen my teeth pray my nails become claws to finally dig out of this hole we’ve always called home. panthers on the mountainside the freedom that comes of knowing your bite I sharpen my teeth pray my nails become claws to finally dig out of this hole I‘ve always called home.

When the fire don’t burn And the grass don’t grow And the good folks turn From where the bad folk go Either seeking power Or by the lot of birth They find their way Beneath the cold dark earth So what can you do When help never comes When the beast speaks true But your people stay mum? The dark has power that the green won’t show ‘Cause as above, so below When the well runs dry And the milk goes sour And the rooster cries In the midnight hour Best to lock your door And draw the curtains tight You didn’t hear that voice Calling you in the night So where can you go When all hope is lost Seek out those who know But don’t forget the cost The dark has power that the green won’t show ‘Cause as above, so below There are days the light won’t know your name you climb up just to fall and end up just the same You thrash and moan and wail just begging to be saved But you won’t even find your rest at the bottom of a grave

about

Old Gods of Appalachia Asheville, North Carolina

In the mountains of central Appalachia, blood runs as deep as these hollers and just as dark. Since before our kind knew these hills, hearts of unknowable hunger and madness have slumbered beneath them. Old Gods of Appalachia is a horror-anthology podcast set in the shadows of an Alternate Appalachia, a place where digging too deep into the mines was just the first mistake. ... more
